Today’s selection for My Photograph of the Day is a new piece of experimental fine art from Cambodia titled Form and Volition #4.
Form and Volition #4 Portfolio 13

Volition means the power to choose, the act of making a decision, or the exercise of one’s own will. Volition = your ability to decide and act because you choose to, not because someone forces you.
Form is the element of art that gives things volume — the sense that they occupy space. It’s what makes a drawn apple look round, a sculpture feel solid, or an abstract shape feel weighty or expressive.
Critique
Form and Volition #4 is perhaps the most lyrical entry in the series thus far. The palette has cooled and softened considerably — yellow here is buttery rather than blazing, blue more atmospheric than declarative — and the result carries an almost musical lightness. The lavender band drifting across the lower third introduces a note of genuine tenderness, a color the series has not previously permitted itself. Yet the familiar black and cream striped element persists in the upper register, threading continuity through what might otherwise feel like a departure.
Emotionally, this piece evokes something like reverie — forms caught mid-movement, neither arriving nor departing. The teal accent near the upper right provides just enough chromatic sharpness to prevent the composition from dissolving entirely into its own softness.
Technically, the edges here are more diffuse than in earlier works, the transitions between planes more gradual, suggesting a growing confidence in ambiguity as a compositional tool rather than a problem to be resolved.
