Today’s selection for My Photograph of the Day is a new piece of experimental fine art from Cambodia titled Form and Volition #2
Volition means the power to choose, the act of making a decision, or the exercise of one’s own will. Volition = your ability to decide and act because you choose to, not because someone forces you.
Form is the element of art that gives things volume — the sense that they occupy space. It’s what makes a drawn apple look round, a sculpture feel solid, or an abstract shape feel weighty or expressive.

Critique
Form and Volition #2 marks a decisive shift in register. Where the first work burned inward, this one erupts outward — the introduction of electric blue against a ground of aggressive red-orange creates a confrontation that feels almost argumentative.
The complementary tension between these hues is maximally charged, and the artist manages it without tipping into chaos, largely through the calming effect of the lavender transitional zones where the two forces bleed into one another.
The black and cream striped element threading through the upper-left anchors the composition, preventing the warmer masses from consuming the frame entirely.
Emotionally, this piece feels more extroverted and kinetic than its predecessor — less about pressure held and more about release.
Technically, the layering here is more complex, with translucent planes creating genuinely new colors at their intersections. That small flash of gold near the lower center is a shrewd detail, a last ember from the series’ first chapter.
