Personal Note 5 – AI and I

My Creative Process: Art, Ethics, and Technology

I believe that for an archive to have true value—especially as a legacy—it must be built on a foundation of honesty. Here is how I work:

Photography: A Human Lens

Every image on Light and More is an original photograph captured by my lens, and enhanced through my imagination and by a spirit of experimentation. I do not use generative AI to create, alter, or “hallucinate” any part of my images.

The Process:

While I use professional digital imaging software (Adobe Lightroom) to adjust contrast, color, and grain and to create multiple imagery that fits my aesthetic, the “foundation” of every photograph are real moments of light captured by me with the aid of my camera.

The Commitment:

My images are a record of my actual visual experience. If you see a face, a structure, or a geometric form, it is because I stood before it and chose to press the shutter.

Writing: An AI-Assisted Collaboration

While the vision is entirely mine, I utilize Artificial Intelligence as a tool for structural and editorial support.

The Relationship:

I rely on AI as a thought partner to help with research, organization, writing and editing, and to ensure the critiques, culture notes and other topics discussed are clear and coherent.

The Authorship:

I am the sole witness to the events described and the final editor of every word. The AI functions as a master craftsman, helping me bridge the gap between my visual “eye” and the written page. This partnership allows me to be more effective while remaining the creator of the ideas presented here.
